What is wellness?

Is it being healthy?  Is it fitness?

A girl I once worked with was obsessed by running and working out.  She had a terrible diet and seemed to have a continuous series of colds and flu as well as poor body image.  Not my idea of well.

I know a woman who was coping with a degenerative illness – she was cheerful and uplifting to be around.  Maybe not in the best of health, yet still in a very good place mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Wellness has a different definition for everyone.  Everyone has their own ideas and standards of what wellness is for them.

Some people don’t set very high standards for themselves and seem relatively content to slide into old age and its attendant problems.  Some people expect to be old at 60; others say “60! Old? Not me!” and live accordingly.

Either way it’s a choice and once you’ve made that choice there are decisions to be made to back up that belief.

Think about your everyday choices and the decisions you make.

The body loves to move so choose something you enjoy and feel good doing.  Why?  Quite simply, because you are more likely to do something you love to do.  Wellness should not be a chore.  Wellness is not just physical fitness.  It’s important to take into account the mental, emotional and spiritual too. Nowadays there are so many options.

Yamuna Body Rolling is easy to do and you feel lighter, taller and renewed afterwards so you are more likely to do it. Your physical body will feel lighter and your mood will be uplifted too.

Wednesday evening classes start October 15th 6.30pm at False Creek (Le Physique, 662 Leg in Boot Square, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4B3).  Book a class, feel the difference.
