Are you ready for change?

Posted by on April 19, 2021 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Whilst reflecting on the changing dynamics in my small part of the neighbourhood here in the village – a family with young children has moved in to a newly renovated house; Lila, a widow, has moved from her family home to a smaller place in the village with fewer stairs and less to clean – it occurred to me that change is happening whether we want it or not, whether we are ready or not. Change is progress, change is cleansing and change is inevitable. Trying to hold on to the status quo may cause a lot of stress and anxiety. Are you...

What’s changed for you?

Posted by on June 22, 2020 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Changes happen whether you want them or not The Covid-19 pandemic has forced a lot of change for many people. Priorities have changed, temporarily at least. What are your priorities now? What’s changed for you? What would you like to change? Have you decided you want a different lifestyle? You want to make changes You know you need to make changes Yet fears are holding you back Fears are good Fears keep you safe Safe doesn’t move you forward Sometimes you just have to push on through the fear to get to where you want to be Sometimes you...

How are you coping?

Posted by on April 6, 2020 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

How are you coping with the changes in your life? Your regular routine is out of the window and for some it must feel chaotic, whether you are counted as an essential worker or whether you are suddenly outside of your regular occupation. The people who seem to be dealing the best with their changed circumstances are those who are establishing a routine and those who are finding ways to be creative. I’ve really enjoyed witnessing the fun ideas people are coming up with. They are having fun creating, they are having fun sharing and that in its...

Feel Free to Vent

Posted by on March 30, 2020 in Health and Wellness, Uncategorized | 0 comments

You don’t need me to tell you that for many people this Coronavirus epidemic is life-changing. Priorities are being reassessed and people are realising what’s most important to them. For others, life hasn’t changed all that much. Here in southwest France, the vine workers are going about their days as usual. Most of us in isolation are dealing with filling in our days in a completely different way.  It’s a marvellous opportunity to learn and grow and to be creative. For many people, pressure will be building from being cooped up in...

Fear of change

Posted by on March 16, 2020 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

This morning I went to the bakery at 7.30am, came home with a lovely warm loaf of bread, cut off a hunk, slathered it with butter and devoured it with a cup of tea. Bliss. Nothing too unusual about that except while I was out I saw only one other person, apart from the lady serving in the bakery. The only vehicle I saw was the bin lorry. Usually at that time the village is busy with people on their way to work and the kids off to school. Today we are on lock down. Thankfully the bakery counts as an essential service. Change happens whether we...

January Full Moon

Posted by on January 13, 2020 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

The first full moon of the year was quite spectacular – you know, the one that was supposed to be, according to many Facebook posts at least, the turning point for massive change for the better and so on and so forth. Have you noticed anything radically different in your life? Probably not. Some people will have had happen the kind of life-changing event that can happen at any time. Death of a loved one, news of serious illness or accident or maybe even a huge lottery win. Most of us plod on day to day with little or no discernible...

Why New Year’s Resolutions Fail

Posted by on January 6, 2020 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

For me, Winter is a time to hibernate, a time for reflection rather than action and I believe that’s a big part of why New Year’s resolutions fail, usually within the first week of January. We’re not meant to be taking action then. It’s natural to want to improve and grow. In nature, if a plant is not growing, then it is dying. Human beings are the same. We may stagnate for a long time and that is nothing other than a slow death. How many people do you know who are content with things exactly as they are and vegetate in front of the...

Happy New Year 2020

Posted by on December 30, 2019 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

A New Year for a lot of people means new beginnings – out with the old and in with the new. Many of us have been tolerating things in our lives we can barely stand that have been sucking the life out of us. We go on in the same old, same old way because it seems easier than doing something about it. Change can be difficult and a challenge. It can be scary and seem impossible yet all it takes is making the choice and taking the first step. Then the next. Then the next. And it’s well worth it – you’ll wish you’d done it...

Merry Christmas

Posted by on December 23, 2019 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

The Christmas season is a time of contrasts. For some people it’s the best time of the year – a time to celebrate, party and revel in gift giving and the company of family and friends. For others it’s the worst time of the year. The feeling of loneliness, memories of times past, missing people no longer with you. The first Christmas after loved ones have passed on, just like the first birthday or anniversary, is especially poignant. My advice has always been to celebrate, even if you really don’t feel like it, and honour loved ones who...
