Enterprise Vision Awards

Posted by on September 26, 2016 in Uncategorized | 6 comments

What a fabulous evening and a wonderful experience to be one of the finalists in the Enterprise Vision Awards for women in business in the north west of England. I met some amazing women and it was a privilege to be amongst them. I didn’t win the award but I certainly don’t feel like a loser. Just to get to the finals and attend the sumptuous gala event for 600 people in the Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens, Blackpool was an uplifting and inspiring event. I had the support of so many people to get there – colleagues, friends,...

Successes to report

Posted by on August 12, 2016 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

It’s a while since my last blog post so what have I been up to? Apart from my attempts to keep the garden and my feisty 95 year old mother under control (I’m having more success with the garden), there have been many successes to record at Walney Cottage. Clients are enjoying the benefits of Yamuna Table treatments and the whole body vibration machine, from weight loss, to rehab after hip and knee replacements, increased circulation speeding up recovery from an auto-immune disease, and massive improvement in lymphoedema where...

Think outside, no box required

Posted by on March 21, 2016 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

“Think outside, no box required” I saw this quote recently and was captivated by the simplicity yet profundity of the statement. The Oxford definition of a box is: 1a container with a flat base and sides, typically square or rectangular and having a lid 2an area or space enclosed within straight lines There are not a lot of boxes in nature. How many of us would benefit by taking a break, leaving our respective boxes, whether it’s the home or the office, and going outside and simply taking a walk. Taking a walk gets the body...

Love Yourself First

Posted by on February 8, 2016 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Valentine’s Day is approaching. Rather than lavishing love and gifts on someone else, I want you to lavish some love on yourself. It’s a marvellous opportunity for some extreme self-care. Treat yourself as you would a loved one.  Be aware of how you talk to yourself, your environment, what you eat and how you can improve your health and the quality of your life. Do more of what’s important to you.  Put yourself first.  See how loving yourself first gains respect from others. Watch this video    – it’s...

New Year, New Beginnings

Posted by on January 11, 2016 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

It’s the end of one year, the start of another year, typically a time of reflection and a time of new beginnings. More than likely, over the festive season you may have overindulged to a greater or lesser degree and you may be gung-ho with New Year’s resolutions and wanting results. Be aware that in order to achieve those results you have to plan realistically, make lasting changes and commit to those changes.  Results require a lifestyle change and the change has to be sustainable.  A quick fix will not get you any further forward from...

Thank You

Posted by on October 12, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Thanksgiving and Canada Day were always my favourite holidays in Canada.  I’d like to thank all of you who have sent me warm wishes for my next adventure in the UK.  You know who you are.   Choose well in the elections.   Your vote does...

Different clientele, same desires

Posted by on October 5, 2015 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

Different clientele, same desires I’ve moved into a completely different zone. One without a Starbucks on every corner, rife with yoga studios and organic grocers. Here I’m still in the land of cut-price supermarkets and meeting for a cup of tea in the market cafe.  Copious gluten-free offerings and food fads are a thing of the future. As regards health, the main topics of conversation seem to be doctors and hospital appointments and Slimming World vs Weight Watchers. One thing that is the same – people want to feel comfortable in...

I want what she’s having

Posted by on September 8, 2015 in Uncategorized | 4 comments

I want what she’s having. I can talk about the Yamuna system until I’m blue in the face – the best thing is to experience it. This week I’m asking those of you who have tried Yamuna Body Rolling and/or a Yamuna Table Treatment to offer advice and encouragement to those who have never tried it. I’ll start the ball rolling (pun fully intended):   Wear close fitting clothes (exercise top and leggings) as loose clothing gets caught up in the ball. Breathe deeply You’ll...

I’ve moved!

Posted by on September 1, 2015 in Uncategorized | 6 comments

I’ve moved! I’m back in the UK with my 94yr old mother and I’m thankful to have this time to spend with family, despite feeling like a foreigner in my own country. I’ve not lived here since I set sail for the West Indies in 1991 and it’s the little things…… Some features of my bank account are not as convenient as I’m used to. Some are way better.  The same with my mobile phone plan.  And I’m learning to speak English again. It’s not a line-up it’s a queue. It’s not garbage it’s rubbish. Asking for the...

Creating Art in Coconut Grove

Posted by on July 22, 2015 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I was privileged to witness and take part in an amazing and unique way of creating sculpture whilst visiting friends, Amanda and Ian, in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida. The picture shows Ian mid-process with his hydraulically imploded metal sculpture.  Amanda and my contribution?  We drank bubbly and nattered. (We had a lot to catch up on!)   See more work by Ian V Curtis here:...
